As you will already be aware, WPA recently launched our new Education Portal which houses a variety of quality educational resources including training courses, webinars, presentations, articles, weblinks and more. Last week, we announced the new WCP (World Congress of Psychiatry) Online Learning Program which takes the place of the in-person course program we usually run in the lead-up to a WPA World Congress. Those of you already registered for our virtual World Congress next month will have received notification of this course program via a mailshot. Others of you may have read about it in my recent Message from President.
The differences between the WCP Online Learning Program and our in-person sessions are two-fold: first, rather than running all courses concurrently over one day as we do at an in-person WCP, our online program will see one course run each month throughout the coming year. Second, the cost of attending the courses will be covered by a participant’s World Congress registration fee. There is no additional charge as there would have been if the course was held in person.
Today, I am writing to you to seek your help in sharing news of this wonderful program more broadly.
We know that you have many valuable networks – both in your role as a WPA Zonal Representative and also via your professional and academic affiliations. We would be grateful if you would circulate details of this new program to those networks. Specifically, I ask that you share the recent announcement of the first course in the program series on Telepsychiatry. This is a particularly timely session given that so many of us have found it necessary to work remotely during the current pandemic. Moreover, WPA has secured some of the world’s foremost experts on the topic to offer their insights on how to ensure effective consultations for both doctor and patient alike.
I encourage you to reach out to your colleagues to share the following link: https://www.wpanet.org/post/wcp-online-learning-program-registration-now-open-for-first-course-telepsychiatry and/or the attached flyer advertising the course. The full course schedule can be found here: https://www.wpanet.org/course-schedule
In coming weeks, we will be in touch again to ask you to share further information on some of the other courses that will be delivered as part of the program. I am thankful to Andrea Pound & Catherine Devine, our communication team, for their hard work to achieve this milestone.
With thanks in advance for your collaboration and assistance.
